Mudgeeraba Special School was previously the Mudgeeraba State School from 1883. It was originally named the Opportunity School. It opened in the current premises in 1985 and provides a needs-based education for students with high support needs and disabilities from Prep to year 12. Students who are enrolled in special schools within Department of Education require specialised teaching with individualised programs to facilitate access to and participation in the wide range of educational and lifestyle opportunities and to maximise learning outcomes.
