Mudgeeraba Special School have an active Health and Physical Education Committee who meet fortnightly to plan sporting events and initiatives. Annual whole school sporting events include the Burleigh Walk, sports day, senior school swimming carnival and the Day for Daniel walk.

Classes are assigned one of four houses which include Dingoes house which are red, Wallabies house yellow, Emus house green and Magpies house blue. When competing in whole school events, students score points for their houses. Each house has two house captains to support with events and lead processes including the march past and war cry.

To support the teaching of the movement component of the Health and Physical Education, some activities occur off campus. Activities to encourage physical activity within the local community include but are not limited to accessing parks, sporting fields, putt putt, indoor trampoline centres, gyms, bowling alleys and the Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre. Not all classes are involved in the same sporting activities and some programs do require a fee for participation.

When partaking in sporting activities, students are encouraged to adhere to the school's Sun Smart policy to support sun safe actions within the school which include but are not limited to the application of sunscreen and wearing a hat.
